Fire Life Safety Inspection Technician

$25-50/hour DOE | Full-Time | Field-Based | Tracy / Greater Bay Area

Position Summary

Simplified Integrations is growing our Inspection team and hiring Fire Life Safety Inspection Technicians across multiple experience levels — from developing inspectors with real industry experience to highly experienced technicians capable of independently running complex inspections.

You do not need to know every system or hold every certification.

We’re looking for technicians who have a solid fire life safety foundation, take pride in accurate work, communicate well, and want to continue developing their technical skills.

Your level, responsibilities, and compensation will be based on what you can confidently and safely perform today.

What You’ll Own

Depending on your experience and qualifications, you’ll:

  • Perform fire alarm, fire sprinkler, extinguisher, and other fire life safety inspections and testing
  • Complete annual, quarterly, semiannual, 5-year, and other required inspections
  • Follow applicable NFPA standards, AHJ requirements, manufacturer requirements, and SI procedures
  • Identify and clearly document deficiencies
  • Complete inspection reports, photos, testing results, and field documentation accurately and on time
  • Track missed or inaccessible areas and communicate follow-up needs
  • Communicate field issues and findings clearly with Operations
  • Represent SI professionally with property teams, customers, residents, and vendors
  • Maintain assigned tools, testing equipment, and company vehicle
  • Provide enough detail for our Estimating and Service teams to accurately address deficiencies
  • Continue developing your technical knowledge, certifications, and level of independence

We’re Hiring at Multiple Levels

Developing Inspector

You already have hands-on fire life safety experience and understand the fundamentals.

You may still work alongside experienced technicians on more complex inspections, but you can reliably perform assigned testing, follow procedures, document your work, and continue building independence.

Independent Inspector

You can run assigned inspections with limited supervision, understand the systems you’re testing, identify deficiencies, complete reports, and communicate issues proactively.

Advanced Inspector

You bring strong NFPA 25 and/or NFPA 72 knowledge, can independently handle more complex systems and specialized testing, produce high-quality reports, and may help support QA/QC or developing technicians.

Experience With Any of the Following Is Valuable

You do not need experience with all of these:

  • Fire alarm inspections
  • Fire sprinkler inspections
  • NFPA 25
  • NFPA 72
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Fire pumps
  • Standpipes
  • Annual inspections
  • 5-year inspections
  • Alarm testing and troubleshooting
  • Deficiency documentation
  • Commercial or multifamily properties
  • The Compliance Engine or similar reporting platforms

Certifications & Credentials

Depending on the level, the following are valuable but not required for every candidate:

  • NICET
  • California Fire/Life Safety certification
  • California Sprinkler Fitter Card
  • Fire extinguisher certification
  • Other applicable industry credentials

If you have real fire life safety experience but do not have every certification listed, we still want to hear from you.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll likely do well here if you:

  • Take accuracy and compliance seriously
  • Pay attention to details
  • Complete your documentation, not just the fieldwork
  • Ask questions instead of guessing
  • Communicate early when there is a problem
  • Are reliable and show up prepared
  • Take ownership of your work
  • Work well independently and as part of a crew
  • Treat customers, residents, and teammates professionally
  • Want to continue learning and improving your craft

What Success Looks Like

  • Inspections are completed safely and accurately
  • Reports are complete and submitted on time
  • Deficiencies are clearly documented
  • Missed areas and access issues are properly tracked
  • Operations and Estimating receive the information they need without repeatedly chasing it down
  • Customers experience professional communication
  • QA corrections and preventable errors stay low
  • Tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained properly
  • Your technical ability and independence continue to grow
